I lived in one of those houses for seven years, very close to Route 17. Great town, but, depending on how close you are to 17, it can be rough. I needed earplugs to sleep, and pulling out directly onto the highway can be a death wish at times. When my roommates and I moved out of the house, the landlord wasn’t able to rent the house again for years.
If you’re further up it may not be as much of an issue. Hang out near the house for a few hours and see if the noise bothers you. The town itself is really nice, and the most affordable in Northwest Bergen County.

I looked at a house that was right next to Route 17 in Waldwick. You can hear the highway inside the house it was very unnerving when you went into the backyard I could just feel so stressed hearing the cars speed right by the fence. I wouldn't imagine having my kids play in the backyard heaven forbid a car went out of control and crashed into your house which has happened.
In my opinion the houses that are right on Route 17 should be taken through eminent domain and have a buffer put there.
Skip - air quality near highways is poor. In addition to the vehicle exhaust, it is the brake dust, tire dust, and road dust that gets kicked up. Waldwick is a decent town.
I always look at home listings, kind of a hobby of mine. I always wonder if it’s worth it when I see great deals on beautiful houses that sit directly next to or behind Rt 17 or 208. I’m talking about desirable towns like Glen Rock, Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes, Ho Ho Kus, etc. Waldwick is a nice town, but not desirable enough to suck up living in a house next to the highway...
I don’t know if interesting is the word I would use LOL. The housing inventory right now is so pathetic!
