I wouldn’t go through ezpass. The camera won’t have anything to scan. Just wait the week until the tag comes.

Did you go on the website and register your cars license plate? If so, then the toll should be charged to your account. The camera reads your license plate if the scanner doesn’t catch your EZPass tag. If your license plate is in the EZPass system, you get charged for the toll. If your plate isn’t in the system, you get a ticket.

I've left my ez-pass in the glove box and when I get my statement it just has the plate number instead of the tag. If you don't have your car registered and you get a bill in the mail, I believe you can just put your tag number down and send it back and you won't have to pay the fee. So if you went through tomorrow, you should get your tag before the bill would be due.
Like someone else said, register the plate and it shouldn't be a problem.

yea, it would be the same if the battery died on your ez pass. They just take the money from your account (guess they have your $25/$40/??? monty for future tolls and your plate, right?)

They'll bill you the maximum possible toll, plus a processing fee or whatever. I did that in Albany, and they treated my car like I'd driven all the way from Buffalo.

maybe that is what they would do on the turnpike but not if its a toll that just bills a standard amount. what will probably happen is they will send you a bill with like a $50 fee + the cost of the toll. you only have to pay the cost of the toll if you have an ezpass account. so you will dispute the fee and pay the toll at that point.

really its probably simpler to just go through the cash lane and pay the toll until you have the tag.

Its happened many times, the equipment takes a pic of your license plate then they very often check your plate number to see if its associated to an EZpass account, if so they just bill the toll to that account and you can see that online. If not they send a letter in the mail and you can go online and associate that till and license plate to your account. They drop or waive the $50 extra fee, otherwise you get charged extra.
