Hi Everyone,

We currently live and receive OT/PT/Speech with our child's IEP in NYC (10 y.o. now.) I've heard rumors of mixed reviews of Autism services in NJ (in terms of what services you get, like much less than you would get in NYC, example, if your child would get 3 Speech, you would get 1 in NJ.) Plus, NYC gives you the option to bill your insurance or the City covers the cost, but in NJ, I think they try your insurance first (which is no issue for us, just different,) then they have a scale of income and based on your income is what you pay per month for services. Very fortunately, our child is high functioning and is qualified for Nest/Horizons in NYC but we don't see an equivalent of that in NJ (Nest/Horizons) Does anyone know if there's an equivalent for Nest/Horizon in NJ? Also, how does busing work in NJ -- I assume it's based on the township?

If someone can please share their knowledge / experience in the following areas that we are considering moving to: Manalapan / Marlboro / Monroe / Basking Ridge -- if they are relatively the same, that would be great for us, since we'll have more options and I personally prefer Basking Ridge because it's central location in NJ and proximity to Bridges (Outer/Goethels) to get to Brooklyn, but heard very positive things about the 3 M's.

I'm going to call the public schools and find out more details this week, but your experience is much more important to know.

Also, can you let me know when buying a house, what do you have to pay for aside from: Electric / Gas / Property Taxes?

I'm not sure if garbage pickup is included in your property taxes. Also, are there two water/sewer charges, one for local and one for the region?

I've seen a lot of turn around for houses in NJ in those areas which seem to match a kids time in school, then they leave....our goal is not just that, but to retire there and be mortgage free with just property taxes and other necessities like water/sewer, etc...

Many thanks in advance!

Alexander
