I went skating in Asbury park on the board walk. There are signs stating that bicycles are only allowed on the board walk from 2 Am to 10 AM, but I was skating in the evening and of course there were some lawbreaking bicyclists riding along with me.

Skating on the board walk is ok. In Asbury park the wood is weathered so skating is noisy and you must be able to keep your balance over rough ground. Bradley Beach just south of Asbury park has platic coated wood on their board walk which is much smoother skating.
