I got laid off from my job in LA and found a replacement located in Westfield, NJ. I'm not sure where I should live, but have looked at Cranford, North Brunswick, and Franklin Twp Somerset County (my first choice).
What are the best suburbs for young people? I don't wanna live in a town full of families and children, but I also want somewhere distinctly suburban and spread out. I don't use public transport (it's how I was raised) will be driving everywhere. Being from LA the density in some parts of NJ is unbelievable to me.
Budget is around $530k I'm single 27 and Latina, would like a place with some Spanish speakers if possible. Definitely needs to be safe and preferably middle class not working class. Thank you!
Montclair and Morristown are probably the closest you're going to get for what you described. In NJ you won't find too many childless 20-somethings in the suburbs; except for those that live with their parents still. IDK how far 530k will go in either town though.
I would recommend Somerville!! Great downtown, in a less dense area of NJ, a decent Latino population and attracting younger residents. Also, lots of home choices in your price range and it’s about a 30-40 minute commute to Westfield driving.
Franklin Twp. is not the greatest nor safest town. Why is it your top choice? I’d avoid it.
Cranford is an awesome town. However, it’s dense and definitely family-oriented. You will be surrounded by lots of families. No sizable Latino population either.
Nothing stands out to me for North Brunswick. Typical suburb with families, but actually has a large Latino population.

First, let us establish that NJ--overall--has a far lower crime rate than the average for all US states.
Then, let's compare Somerville with Franklin Township. In reality, Franklin Twp has a significantly-lower violent crime rate than Somerville:
Definitely recommend Morristown based on your needs. Great downtown, lots of singles, sizable latin population, and not a terrible commute to Westfield.
Look at Harrison. It resembles DTLA in the new buildings so not so suburban. Traditionally a large Hispanic population but attracting younger singles because of access to the Path train to NYC and all the new construction. Red Bull soccer stadium is there.

I guess that is worse than being partially expensive.
