I drive on Rt.9 almost daily. Almost every business has Help Wanted signs up. At the marina where I get my boat serviced they can't get boat mechanics at 40 bucks an hour to start. I don't know where all the people went that used to work these jobs.

Kind of makes me want to be a boat mechanic. If they train...
IMO, this needed to end earlier.... We have a couple people in my circle of friends that are just milking the benefits. Kinda irritates those of us that did our best to remain employed... paying taxes.. so they can stay home.

I have no doubt that many are. The only person I know who is still collecting lost her job due to COVID (Broadway tours for hs drama classes from all over the country) then found out she had cancer and was treated and is now in remission. She is working on getting her own business off the ground. I don't begrudge her the check.
God forbid there are actual living, breathing human beings just trying to stay afloat that are receiving this money. Not everyone on the planet is a deadbeat.

The ones who are taking advantage of this are probably the same people who in non-COVID times don't bother to look for a new job until their unemployment runs out.

Okay. But I would like to believe they are not the majority and if that’s naive, so be it.
