They will be complete disasters, that much you can bank on. Every state that's opened up recreational has been flooded the first few weeks, with lines down the block, parking issues, supply issues, etc. And our state is sandwiched between a global megacity and another big city, neither of which have access to recreational dispensaries. So, yeah, I will be avoiding them until the hype wears off.
Additionally, don't assume that you can use a credit card. Supposedly three of the retailers will take plastic, but most won't. Until one faction in Congress gets off its butt (Helloooo McConnell!) and passes the bill that would make Cannabis legal on the federal level, most banks won't deal with weed retailers, even if it is legal in the state where they do business.
Sounds like the roll out is already a disaster with people waiting over night and fear they will run out. With 5 or so shops in the whole state I doubt this will be anything but a disaster.
I wonder what the lines will be like when heroin is legalized. The way this society is degrading, I see that in the next 20 to maybe 25 years.
There are already long lines for heroin, just not in your neighborhood. If you think that they're going to be putting up heroin dispensaries like they do with cannabis, you're being a chicken little. Weed legalization is far from this society's biggest problem right now (it's not even a problem).
