My husband is getting posted to New Jersey from Switzerland and his office is at Florham Park. We have 2 kids (3 year and the other 7 months)..i have tons of q, as this is our first move to the US...so any help on any would be welcome
what would be a good area / community to live in- ideally a 20 min commute time
what is the age for kids to join pre school ...here its 3 years....is it the same for international schools
on an average, how much is required to lead a decent lifestyle assuming only one spouse is working.
how much would we need to pay for a 3 bedroom house in and around florham park
Florham Park is a very nice, but pricey town. It's hard to say what salary you need to live a decent lifestyle. It really depends on how cheap or expensive your tastes are (clothes, furniture, cars, etc.). In 2005, the average income in Florham Park was $96,400 (just to give you an idea). You should look into neighboring towns as well (Chatham, Madison, New Providence, etc). They are just as nice as Florham Park.
I'm not sure about pre-school, maybe a parent can help you with this one. I believe most children start at either 3 or 4 years of age, but I'm not sure.
Good luck and welcome to the US!

Reason: Forgot to add some info.
a lot of nice towns all around florham park. along with what busch boy said, there is also cedar knolls, parsippany, morristown....good luck!
Although Cedar Knolls and Parsippany are very nice, they don't have the "prestige" that Florham Park, Madison, or Chatham have (these towns usually get a "ohhh, ahhhh" response when residents say they live there, LOL). Morristown, on the other hand, has seedy parts and I hear the high school is bad; but I'm not sure about that. It really depends on what the OP is looking for in a town.

Thanks a lot for your help. I guess I will start checking the net to see the kind of apartments we can get.
You can start preschool (private) at potty-training age (2 1/2-3).
Districts that have preschools built in to their school district (This isn't common), the age is 4.
Good Luck!
Shanny
Thanks Shanny......is there a website that I can check, to see which school districts have preschool, their ranking etc.
Also if we have to look at private option how much would it cost us to send one child full day (9 to 4).
