Has anyone tried Radio Garden? It's an app, and you basically have a globe open up on your phone. It allows free listening anywhere around the world, for free. You can search by genre as well.

You don' even need a radio to listen to music.

Many radio stations have free on-line streaming options. It's not only local stations. You can listen to stations from across the nation on line.
