OK so. I'm driving home. About 5 minutes before my exit, gray Alfa Romeo Stelvio, last 3 of tags RLY
.. passes splitting lanes at about 100+MPH. I know this is how stolen cars drive, and they usually come out of Newark. (They target high end cars like BMW and Mercedes. Not uncommon to see this. Sometimes.) So I call 911.

First the guy is like.. "OK it's an Alpha Male??..." I say again. Alfa Romeo Stelvio. It's an Italian car. I give them the plate number.

So they ask me if I want to pursue a complaint.. I say uhhhhh... NO? It wasn't doing anything to ME.. It's just extremely reckless and probably stolen. Possible drunk though I doubt it.

Right when I say that, they say, "OK, we'll tell the police about it."

So, then it gets to Rt 70 West.

I call Lakewood PD when my slow phone finally shows me the number.. (they had just made a turn at Wawa on Vermont. Yeah I was following them) I say the same thing..) "Hey, there's a probably stolen Alfa Romeo Stelvio Grey (I give them the plates)"
They are like... "How do you know its stolen"?

It was at this point I knew this was going nowhere. Lakewood PD kind of sort of does nothing about anything, except maybe for obvious drunks late at night.

It was shortly after I hung up, gave up.. I THINK i saw a cop sitting at the intersection. The Alfa Romeo had given me the slip because when I saw the dispatcher was doing what 911 did - they are more interested in getting YOUR info, rather than what you're calling about. I prefer to remain anonymous. In today's world, they probably mail YOU a ticket... - then I wasn't helping them anymore. Go ahead. Drive stolen cars. 100MPH+. Ghey couldnt shake me but im not reckless.. I did what I could.

And my phone doesn't have my real name so they can't exactly track it. And if they were to triangulate my position.. I'm not a terrorist being tracked by the Feds in a massive manhunt, the Alfa went into a residential development that went back out onto New Hampshire Ave.. Ok cool.

I feel like I wasted my time, trying to do the right thing. Exactly like when I phoned in the drunk driver on Rt 80 in PA.

They are more concerned with your info. I explain to them, "It doesn't matter who I am, I'm phoning in a drunk".. (and I'm not surprised by almost anything on the road. And I drive fast. So when I see something worthy to say something.. why do the cops want to know about ME.. probably so they can track ME down.. No.)

The Alfa had to blast past cars on the shoulder too and I got a look at the driver. Either one of the Migos, or he stple that car. I know how to follow safely. Carjacking is a real possibility in how they get these cars...

What are your thoughts about all of this?

My thoughts are not only did you waste your time, but you just wasted mine. Is your name Karen?

Since we’re here I might as well ask, how fast were you driving while chasing the guy doing 100mph? If it was anywhere near 100 mph, by your logic, you must have been driving a stolen car.

This is another reason I feel I wasted my time.

I read this post and asked myself why did OP think the car was stolen.

OP mentioned "splitting lanes." I'm unfamiliar with the term, so I looked it up on Wikipedia:

"Lane splitting is riding a bicycle or motorcycle between lanes or rows of slow moving or stopped traffic moving in the same direction.[1][2] It is sometimes called whitelining, or stripe-riding.[3][4] This allows riders to save time, bypassing traffic congestion, and may also be safer than stopping behind stationary vehicles.[2][3][5][6]"

As this wasnt a bicycle or motorcycle, it really didn't answer any questions I had.

So, OP, what exactly was the driver of the car doing that made you think it was stolen, other than simply just driving fast? People drive fast all the time.

Your first sentence.

Patriotic, the high point of my day was making rice pudding. At least yours was a bit more exciting.

lol. Thanks, Gerania. I did what I could.

And I hate car thieves. 2014 Newark will never be lost on me. Even if I didn't have a car stolen...

When I saw the police were doing their usual "interested in doing nothing".. I let the thieves go and stopped falling it out. HudsonCoNJ I really hope you are only like this on the Internet and not in real life. Gub'ment job?

Here.. here's a good discussion about speed on a roadway. I'm about to start working. I also posted a question to YouTube about if I will get fake spark plugs from EBay. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/th....365903/page-4
