I have had no issues at all. in fact, I had to pull my license out to confirm that he it had the "Not for Real ID Purposes" on it (it does) as I had never noticed it in the last 2 years. Nobody has ever said anything, and that includes airports, bars, etc.

I fly with my passport anyway, since my full name doesn't fit on NJ's drivers license. If a REAL ID from NJ doesn't fit my name, I'm still going to have to fly with my passport, so I see no benefit to paying for one.

A couple years ago when these newer licenses were first coming out, there were many issues because many bartenders, bouncers, store clerks, etc.. failed to understand what "Not For Real ID Purposes" really meant. Here was an article NJ.com published back in 2021. https://www.nj.com/news/2021/06/new-...-problems.html

Once in Massachusetts... but they are so strict for non-New England ID's there, so I doubt it was the Not Real ID Purposes on the actual, physical ID.

Im 25.

Oh yes, I heard that Boston is one of the strictest cities for IDs and basically don't like anything from out of state.

Yeah, got denied entry to bars in Boston with a NJ license because it "looked fake," which is true. NJ licenses have always looked sorta off, like they could've been made in a basement.

The issue I have with the Real ID is the process to get one. If you can do everything you can do with a Real ID with a passport, why is a Passport not enough identification to get a Real ID (proving your address would require additional documentation)? Also the "appointments" you make for a Real ID is NOT an appointment. It is a timed entry. You wait in the same lines with everyone else. You just go to someone, they cross off your name with a highlighter and tell you to get in line. I cannot believe how 1980's the entire process is. I had to print out my water bill, to bring in, for me to watch someone scan it in. Crazy

Exactly, the same idiot politicians who ban bags and claim they are so concerned about the environment are the ones who make up these rules that require wasting paper and printing out all these statements because for some reason, showing them on your phone is not good enough. Furthermore, I also think the 6 pts ID is ridiculous because IF you already have a digital DL that is about to expire, why the hell should you need to show 6pts worth of documents again 4 years later IF you go in person, yet you can just renew online without it? Their thinking is so backwards!
