Hey all,
Been in Lyndhurst a few years but most likely looking to move to a different town. Rutherford is #1 on our list as we are very familiar with the town and like it very much, BUT the home prices and inventory are creating dilemmas. So, with that said, we are looking for alternative (but similar type towns) to move to that cover the below checklist of needs:
1)somewhat close to a train station which has direct trips to Hoboken that are under 30 minutes
2)preferably a 4 bedroom house (but 3 would work if it has ample space for living/gym area in a basement or something)
3)budget of $800,000 maximum (but obviously would prefer to stay in the $550,000 - $650,000 range)....taxes no more than $15,000-$20,000/year
4)very quality/above average schools (glen ridge for example)
5)a decent/good downtown that's somewhat vibrant, has things to do, and is walkable (don't want to drive 5-10 minutes to go to a restaurant)
6)safe (obviously)
To me, when I think of my options, the following towns come to mind:
-Wood-Ridge
-Verona
-Glen Ridge
-West Orange?
For these purposes, please do not recommend the following towns as we are already familiar with them and aren't entertaining them for these purposes:
Rutherford (already familiar)
Montclair (as it is out of our price range for the most part).
Nutley
Clifton
Bloomfield
Belleville
anything north of Saddle Brook
Secaucus (or anything closer to Hoboken than this)
What other good towns would you recommend that I did not mention above that could fit my criteria?
Not impossible, but low inventory there. New construction is $1.1M & up.
Listings around $800K wind up selling for $850K...
The inventory above $800k is even more limited in those towns
