If the budget is 700k(someone else threw out that number, not me) I could probably find you a house that sold for that amount or less in 85-90% of towns.
There’s always some sort of compromise. Maybe the schools aren’t the best in one town, but still above average. Maybe the house isn’t the most modern in another town, but still in good condition. Maybe the town isn’t the most walkable in another town, but still has a small downtown. People can’t expect to have the best of everything with middle class budgets but you can still live comfortably with a 700k house budget.
If you're only making the commute 3 days a week maybe consider going further out, like south jersey. I had friends growing up who's parents lived in Burlington county and commuted to NYC 5 days a week.
You'll get WAY more for your money if you go south of 195. Depending on the town there are excellent school systems. You could catch the train at Hamilton and ride up to NYC or there are Greyhound bus stations that can get you there.
Prob looking at hour and 45min commute, but even if you lived in hoboken it would take 30-45 mins to get to your desk... thats just the nature of the beast when workin in NYC.
Low taxes, good schools, safe, walkable, and close to NYC, all for like $700k. AKA - doesn't exist.
In addition vibrant downtown with plenty of activities for kids and adults, a train station right in town with an express train to Hoboken and/or Penn station, low cost town pool open in a summer and a community center with lots of interesting programming.
On a serious note, there are plenty of towns similar to what is described. It is just that they are very expensive...
All these things are relative, so one could argue that it does exist.
Don't get me wrong there are many very nice towns out there not putting anyone down but you say it's all relative , to what? I ask because the OP never came back with specifics ,none of us knows the needs or actual wants of the OP.
Hey in many instances the diversity built the new construction! Two birds with one stone.
