Hello. This is my first post here. Be gentle.

Quick Backstory:
I am originally from Flushing, NY. I enlisted in the US Navy in '05 and have been stationed in San Diego ever since. Now, I finally have an opportunity to be closer to home, and received orders to NOSC Earle, in Leonardo, NJ. I will arrive there in late October most likely.

I'm looking for a 1-bedroom apartment or condo that may be best suited for me to rent.
Of course, price, safety, neighborhood, nearby places of interest and convenience, and location are all factors I consider important.
I have almost no knowledge of the area, so I'll gladly accept any information or advice.
I am 21, single, and Asian.
I plan on visiting home in Flushing, NY every once in a while, which is about an hour and 20 minutes away from my new station.

Welcome back to the east coast! NWS Earle (Leonardo) is accessed via Hwy 36 in Leonardo, which is between Keansburg and Highlands. It's also near the Belford section of Middletown. You're only about 5 or so miles from the Hwy 35 area and a little farther to the Garden State Parkway. You can access this section of the base from the main base (Colts Neck) via Normandy Road. I had a buddy stationed at the pier as a junior officer during the early 1980's and I used to spend some time over there hanging out with him. We both grew up in Ocean County, about 40 minutes to the south.

i am a reservist stationed at Earle...if you are active duty we will probably be working together.

In case you weren't aware...there is a high speed ferry from Atlantic Highlands that goes right to 34th St in Manhattan. From there you could take the subway to flushing. For Military...the ferry is half price ($20 round trip...which is basically what you'd pay in tolls driving)
