WE ARE MOVING FROM PR TO PASSAIC BUT WE DO NOT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT PASSAIC. I want a safe area, good public high schools, How is the rent, I can afford to pay rent $1,200 for 2br. Can we find some basketball clubs to register my son. There are place to visit, parks, etc.

You won't find good high schools in Passaic. If you MUST stay in the Passaic area, try either Rutherford, Nutley or Clifton. You might find a "2" br for $1200 but it won't be a big place. If you still want to stay in Passaic, then choose the Passaic Park area, anything south of Paulison Ave towards Brooks Ave which is mostly jewish neighborhoods and there's a nice park nearby and there's the train station as well.

There are no good areas in Passaic. Why would you move some place you never been? You should rent something short term first and cruise around finding just the perfect place before you commit to any specific place.

Wish ya luck in your move though.......

you could live in Passaic Park area, its not dangerous, its pretty safe, right by route 3 and 21. I have a friend who rents there off Brook Ave. Its a primarly Jewish community, the type but I see it mixed also. Its not dangerous, so if it must be passaic that would be the only area to live.

Default Passaic Park

I am past Puerto Rican, too, and I have a close relative that rents an apartment on 9th ave, it rents for $600 monthly, and has two bedrooms in so-so condition. My mother grew up in that apartment. You shouldn't have trouble finding a place to rent for that price. However, you must stay away from State Street, Passaic Street, Aspen Street, and 8th Ave. Passaic Park would be the best place to raise a family. It is predominately populated by Jewish race, but it has low crime, it is more of a family area, and it is generally nicer, with older but kept up homes. There is Third Ward Park, the train station, a nice downtown. What you won't find is a good school. Passaic and Passaic Park go to the same High School. You must send your son to a private school. Try searching private schools in Rutherford and Oradell. Have you tried searching in Clifton, NJ? It is similar to Passaic, right next to it, and safer, plus better schools. JUst overpopulated! Well, that's all I can say, so Good Luck!

I would also say to try Passaic Park area, which is the best part of Passaic. Passaic has a lot of dumpy-looking parts; but it's not very dangerous at all. You don't hear about any serious crimes happening there. With your budget, you should try looking into Clifton and Garfield too. I think you can find something in those towns as well. But keep in mind, none of these towns will look NOTHING like Puerto Rico. PR is gorgeous.

You may want to try Wallington too. Rents at $1200 for a 2 BR are not unheard of there. The HS is not great but it is decent and it's right over the river from Passaic. Quiet town. Lots of Polish residents, but there is a growing latino community as well.

Default Have you moved yet, Nellyann?

I work in Passaic and am looking for an apartment in or around the area. I'm wondering how successful you search has been. Either way, good luck to both of us!
