Looking for a cheap apt or studio in a Safe neighborhood in Passiac county (Paterson: apartment complexes)

I'm looking for a studio in a safe neighborhood in Passaic county. I have a daughter and I am in school full time. I want to only live there until I graduate, so I don't have much cash at the time to spend on rent.
Does anyone know of a complex or neighborhood or landlord who has a small and cheap place?
I will only live somewhere safe.

I'd rather stay in the lower half of passaic county because it goes all the way north to the NY state line. But I just want to be in a safe neighborhood until I get out of school. I go to school in Montclair but it makes more sense for me to be in Passaic County. Any ideas? I was thinking maybe Clifton, but I haven't found anything cheap on Craigslist there.

Depends on your budget Clifton would be ideal though, also look at West Paterson, Wayne and Little Falls.

Give Little Falls a try- -maybe Clifton. Studios are always available> you can try Totowa, Wayne, West Paterson-
if you venture out to essex cty- there are plenty of studios in Montclair, Verona,Caldwell - all around the Bloomfield Ave area- (bus* lines & lots of shops,eats,parks...etc..)- With a small daughter ,it might be more difficult - but look around * *

Thanks. I hadn't really thought of West Paterson, but it may be safe... And cheaper! I'll check that out more thoroughly. And thank you for your input! I found the names of a few apartment complexes in Clifton too on Google maps what I'm going to call and check their prices.

Anyone know of a better place to look than Craigslist? Or any specific newspapers in the area? That would be good.

Also I'm seeing cheaper apartments available in Kearny. Is that a safe location?

West paterson is a different town then Paterson. Its not wont really be any cheaper then the surrounding towns like little falls or totowa.

Overmount apartments in West Paterson... we lived there for about 5 years before buying a home. It's more Clifton/Totowa than Paterson in location and safety. We were renting a 1 bedroom for something like $900 a month.
