Land of the Lost
Land of the Lost was probobly my favorite all time Sat AM show while growing up.... Intelegent scripts, things well thought out (cheesy green screen effects).... Characters that were intelegent and resourceful but somewhat believable.... ... and yes, a theme song that really got into your head....
FWIW, the show had a weekday morning revival on the SciFi channel sometime in the early mid 90's (not the gawdawful update on early 90's sat am ABC programming).
My brother in law just bought a boxed set of this show about 6 months ago for my wife's birthday. I used to watch this show as well.
We put in a DVD disc, and after about 20 minutes, we were ready to dispatch this into the pile of bell bottom corduroy, and pet rocks. What an insipid show, when you look at it now.
Some randoms on this:
The actor who played the father in this show departed after the second season in a salary dispute (he never found work again) and was filmed from behind during the opening sequence of the third season, going through a time warp. A 'double' was dressed up with a wig to resemble him, as he was going through the warp, and was replaced by the 'uncle'. Needless to say, the show didn't survive the third season.
For you NBA fans, one of the actors who played the 'Sleestak' was none other than a teenaged Bill Laimbeer, who later went onto a memorable career with the Detroit Pistons.
