As some of you know, I had a partial heart transplant earlier this year. Thanks to changes in my insurance plan, I am no longer able to see my regular cardiologist in New York. I could pay out of pocket, of course, but there were a few other issues at his office, which made this an ideal time to make a change. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to a cardiologist with a reasonable radius of Sayreville. Adult congential or valve specialties especially welcome. I do currently have a call out to St. Barnabas' Valve Center for a referral, but wondered if anyone here had any suggestions as well. Thanks so much!

St Barnabas is a great place to start. Marc Cohen at Newark Beth Israel (part of St Barnabas) is an excellent cardiologist and Dr. Saunders is a top heart surgeon.

Good luck.

Thanks! I will definitely look into all listed here. I actually used to be a patient at Deborah, until I suspected that my doctor was suffering from Alzheimer's or some early-onset dementia that seriously inhibited his ability to treat me. Sad, because he was an awesome doctor and was the first to catch my condition. It also made more sense at the time because I lived in Ocean County. Once I took a job in NYC, it made sense to go into the city to see a doctor. (Now I work in Newark.)

Very much appreciate all the recommendations. You guys are great!

We actually saw an awful cardiologist affiliated with St. Barnabas, but I'm not implying anything wrong with St. Barnabas, there are good and bad doctors everywhere. Would recommend Barry Cohen, he is affiliated with Morristown Hospital, office is Associates in Cardio. Disease, Mountain Ave, Springfield.

The doctors in The Heart Group in Millburn work out of St. Barnabas. My doc in Livingston sent me there to check on a problem. I saw Dr. Charney and liked him very much. Luckily I've only had to go to him twice.

I would look into the cardiologists at St. Michael's in Newark. They are top notch.

Deborah hospital in Browns Mills is excellent from what I hear.
My ex brother in law's dad went there about a year ago, good results.
My dad went for tests there, he said everyone was really nice.

I used to live in the area, people from all over go there due to their reputation.
It wasn't uncommon to see Penn Dutch there as well as Amish.

My daughter needs a test, I've been kicking around the idea of driving the hour there.

Not sure where you are willing to go, but Dr. Georgeson of Medicor Cardiology in Somerset County is wonderful.

He has a great bedside manner and all. I take care of my 92 year old grandmother and he is her cardiologist. I really like him.
