I bought my minipoodle a small furry fabric-bunny for christmas and now she does not want to leave it out of her sight. She had her own puppies last June, we kept one. It appears she adopted the bunny and thinks its for real. She does not even come up from the basement during the day, just stays in her bed with the bunny. Don't even try to remove the bunny from her side, she'll get very protective.
Should I give her some prozac (jk!) or just leave her alone. She is becoming a antisocial hermit if this continous...

A neighbor had a similar problem with her poodle. The vet assimulated it to a false pregnancy. I also had it happened with a little rubber toy and a lab. I solved the problem by throwing the toy in the garbage. The dog was fine.

This dog is crazy........throw the dog in the trash and keep the furry bunny toy.....it sounds like a lot less trouble.

Common sense says to throw the toy away, it is obviously causing anxiety and stress for the poor dog!

i would call your vet and ask them what they think. also, there is a product called rescue remedy that you can buy in the health food store that you can give her that will calm her down ( it's a natural prozac and works for people too) and that may help with her anxiety when you take her "baby" away. hope she does ok!
