BERNARDSVILLE —School boards for the Somerset Hills school district and Bedminster are set to hold a joint informational meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 20, to hear about the potential process of consolidating the regional Somerset Hills district with the grades K-8 Bedminster Public School.
No official action will be taken at the meeting, according to the Somerset Hills web site. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the community room at Bernards High School, 25 Olcott Ave., in the borough.
"This is just a presentation and opportunity for people to become more educated about what's involved in consolidation,'' said Alice Rose, who serves as a member of the boards of education for both Bedminster and the Somerset Hills district.
it seems like Somerset COunty is on the right track, also that Long Valley with consolidation the courts so lets throw in Morris County too. Unlike the 2.2 sqare mile towns in Bergen County and they just keep getting raises! Just saw in the paper closter police 16 percent raise. So Good job Somerset and Morris!!
hopefully they will tackle the real problem and don't just consolidate without dealing with the redundancy. good for them for at least discussing it. bedminster's taxes are already reasonable. when DH and I were living there we were bummed it was only short term. i'd move back there in a heartbeat.
