I won't go as far as saying I love ALL of NJ, but I do have a soft spot for the "yucky" areas too.
People will think I am nuts, but I have a soft spot for the Tonnele circle, and Fish House Road, the road that leads to Rt 280. That's one of the quirky charms of NJ: the infrastructure there is so old, Rt 280 couldn't get connected to the Pulaski Skyway, so a two lane road through the swamp is the direct way you can get to the Holland Tunnel from 280. Another one is the boondoggle that is the I-295 intersection with I-76 in Bellmawr. Most other states don't have these oddities, but it lends itself to the quirkiness that is New Jersey, and its charm.
NJ's superiority over Long Island is so blaringly obvious, yet Long Islanders wrinkle their noses at NJ every ... single ... time. Ugh. I have spent so much time in both NJ (obviously) and Long Island, and I honestly hate hate hate Long Island and their attitude.

Long Island is not that bad - just as long as you don't want to -leave- Long Island. If my entire life was centric around the Island, i would probably be happy.
