Driving Permit Questions (DMV, license, road test)

I was wondering if someone might be able to shed some light on a question. I have a friend who 23 years old and needs to get her permit however she asked me about restrictions when getting your permit. From what i remember I didnt have that problem I took the test and then got my permit a week later can someone please tell me what the protocal is for new drivers today especially one at her age.

If you're over 21.. there are 3 steps in order to maintain a license:

First an Examination permit, then Provisional license (one year of restricted driving), and finally a Basic driver license.

The get the permit she must pass the knowledge and vision tests. Meet all of the ID requirements (the 6 Point ID that anyone must meet). There is a small fee as well. All of this can be done at DMV. This permit has the same rules as anyone else on a permit. She must hold it for 3 months. The day she gets her permit she can schedule a road test.

During the three months with the permit.. she must Drive with any licensed driver over 21 (who had a license for 3 years I believe), and obey all driving laws. IF there are no problems during that time.. she may take a road test.

If she passes the road test she gets a provisional license. I am not sure if there are time restrictions once you are over 21. I do not believe there are. You just have to wear seat belts and can't use any electronic devices. (Which any driver isn't allowed to anymore). I do know they still call it a provisional period. So you will have to check on the time restrictions.

Permitting there are no problems in that year. Once she has had the provisional license for a year you can return to DMV and get a basic license.
