Sorry if this has been mentioned alot on this board or in the papers but I'm a NY Yankees fan (living in Boston Massachusetts) who has had 2 20 game season tickets since 2002 in the main box area and now in the new stadium I had to switch to the 15 game plan and I have been relocated to the grandstand level in section 416 in what can only be described as the last 2 seats in that section. These seats are definitely not what I was expecting. I'm wondering if any of you have had similiar experiences and what plan, section, # of tickets and seniority date you have.

It does not seem like losing 4500 seats should put me in the last seat of the house.

Thanks for your help

I have read a few articles about this and this is happening to long time seat holders in Yankee stadium. A close family friend has had season tickets for years and can no longer afford them-he is being priced out. My husband's friend is in a similar situation like you-he gets ticket plans and his seats were moved to a less than desirable location. More corporations are buying tickets in the new stadium. Unfortunately, this is where the $$$ is at. So much for the loyal fan.

Something similar happened to me and others when the Flyers moved out of the Spectrum. We had ticket plans between 20-25 games a year and knew people who had season tickets. We were no longer offered ticket plans at all the first few years and people who had been season ticket holders from the start were lucky to get seats and those in the lower level were only offered nosebleeders. A few years after the "novelty" wore off they were practically begging us to purchase ticket plans again-continually calling and even called us in New Hampshire after we moved. We still buy ticket plans-see a few games and sell most to our friends-but they continue to call and try to get us to buy even larger ticket plans.

I have read stories about this when many sports teams build new stadiums/arenas. Loyal fans are shut out because they make $$$$ off of the corporate seats. Unfortunately sports is really all about $$.

Yes, I ran into the same thing. I had a 15 ticket Sunday package since 2002. I requested a 41 game package and received a 12 game plan which is all midweek. I have 2 young sons and don't love taking them to the games late at night. Our seat location is about the same, upstairs behind home plate but now 2nd row from the top. I ended up accepting it after speaking to the representative, I figure I will sell a number of these on StubHub and then use the proceeds to purchase Sunday games on StubHub. Hopefully, that squares out OK.
