help me please, after moving out of state my husband has to register for new address in morris county, nj. Here is the question, if he does not register with a certain party can he vote in the primary election?

As far as I know, you cannot vote in a primary unless you have declared a specific party affiliation.

I'm pretty sure you have to have a party affiliation in order to be able to vote in primaries.

NJ has closed primaries; you must have a declared party affiliation and you can only vote in the primary for that declared party.

I agree with the previous posters, but you DON'T really have to register with the party in order to vote in the primary. You can just go to the poll and tell them which party's primary you want to vote in. I am not in any party and I did that every year. (And then when I get those fund-raising phone calls I can just tell them "I am not your member." )
