where in NJ are you ?

one thing to remember -- ALL spiders are poisonous (to varying degrees)...

so although they are "beneficial" you might accidentally get bitten, and if you're one of the lucky ones who are allergic, you'll wish you had killed the thing.

Oh lord, seriously, if one of those winds up in my house my wife will be gone forever. I get calls at work from her if there's a little, basic run of the mill spider in the basement. This one? Oh lord, no...!

Golly! It looks like a tarantula, but I didn't think they got as far north as New Jersey. I think the previous poster is right, it's probably a wolf spider. I had one get into my house last fall. I'm not usually freaked out by spiders, but the size of this one did make me a little nervous.

Hey, they are not poisonous. Even if they are, we should not kill them. let's just shoo them away or return them to the wild.

uh..sounds like P.E.T.A.

Just watch out for the brown recluse spider. They can give you a nasty infection.

my wife made me kill a lizard once when we were visiting her friend in puerto rico. she couldnt sleep knowing it was alive. it was different than killing a standard insect. i slapped him with a shoe and he fell to the ground and kind of arched his back like "why did you do that? i am harmless." then i finished him off.

technically, you're correct -- all are venomous

however you put it, leaving them alone allows them to breed, and I for one wouldn't want to share my home with hundreds of spiders...
