We currently live and work in Ocean County. The wife works in Lakewood and I work in Howell. We are looking into buying a house in Burlington County. Where would be a good cut-off point going west or south in the County. I would like to keep the commute under 40 minutes if possible. We dont have a very large budget for house buying, 175k max. We dont need anything big, just 2 bedrooms. If anyone knows names of towns, that would be great. Thanks
Depends on where in Howell you work. You could spend 2 minutes getting from the highway to work, or 15 minutes- that limits how much remains for your commute. I'd think you'd want to be no more than +/-20-25 miles from the office to keep your commute under 40 minutes.
I don't claim to know anything about New Jersey, but a quick Realtor.com search brought up tons of properties within your range/requirements near your workplaces.
Is there something *that* more desirable about Burlington County as opposed to Ocean or Monmouth Counties?
Used to do 110 miles round trip, 6 days a week most of the year. Then did a 13 mile round trip for my 2nd career. Travel route makes or breaks the commute of any distance. Less time travelling the better. 20 miles in the am on rt 22 is not the same a 20 miles south on rt 202.

Seems like the houses in my price range in ocean or Monmouth county are mostly Adult communities.
