I turn on commercial radio in the AM for traffic reports and I have been hearing the commercials against the 'Performance Tax" on free radio..what is it?? Who is thinking of taxing it??What are they going to come up with next??

I just googled it..you know what to hell with these greedy performers..free radio has always been the venue to get people to hear and then buy your new stuff..now you want a tax on it so you can rake in more $$$$

This is just sour grapes, Kate. For years, many performers had the upper hand on the public, churning out mediocre product. 12 song CDs with maybe one or two superior songs, and the perfunctory 16 dollar charge. Now, suddenly, the tables have turned. Anyone can go online, and grab any song they want. So now these people are attempting to recoup and reclaim recent losses. The humorous aspect of this is that many performers come out in favor of higher taxes on the public, especially the 'rich'. This tax would in effect impact everyone, however, and to their benefit. The transparent hypocrisy is palpable.

the heyday of radio is at its end. the problem is solved when you stop listening to radio - stop buying these greedy music lables and their greedy artists CDs. Just stop listening to them. They will go away empty handed. There are plenty of new more interesting bands out there willing to "share" their music with the world. Go see them, watch them, make them famous and when they turn on you - go back to watching the newbies again - and the world turns on. Screw any new tax that comes down the pike.
