Hi all,

So I appreciate this is a slightly difficult question to answer as everyone's different, but, as a young couple living in New Jersey, how much would you need for food shopping, few meals out etc, what would be a good figure to budget for for a nice standard of life? after the house, bills and car have been paid for.

I hope the question makes sense....

Food for two should be $100-150/week if you eat out infrequently. Dinner out can be $20 or $200, so it's hard to say what you'd spend per week/month. I'd say if you figured $600/month for food, $400/month for dinners out (2/week at $50 each), and a few hundred per week for "spending money", you'd be looking at around $2,000/month, which seems about right.

To vague..depends on what you eat....steaks...organic....and how much you eat

We are two and I spend about 60-70 per week for milk, bread, shampoo, vegetables, eggs etc this also includes pet food and once a monthto 6 weeks I spend about 150-200 at Costco for meats only..steak, chicken, pork chops, pork roast and go home and break it down into packages for two and freeze so I guess it averages to about $103 per week.

As Bob said, eating out can be as cheap as $20 and as expensive as $200 depending on what you want and where you go
A play in NYC with dinner, drinks, parking & tolls could run you $500 or better
