...that still play 90's pop/dance music? Or have a "90's night"?

I haven't been to a skating rink in YEARS and my friend and I want to skate to music that is not by Drake, Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, etc.

Well, Young's Skating Center (probably misspelled) in Mayslanding has a disco night where they only play music from the 60's, 70's, and 80's. It's also adults only, so it's not too crowded. Usually there's an older crowd, but there's some nights where it's mostly people in their 20's. It's also almost always the same people every time. Call them and ask, because I'm pretty sure they don't play that crappy top 40 music most nights anyway.

Thanks! I already checked Young's website (since that's the closest skating rink) but they didn't have a monthly schedule up, just the weekly. When I used to go there in the late '90s/early '00s, they played some of the popular 90s/00s dance-pop music. However, when I went back there one night once during high school, they played the most recent hip-hop.

When I'm home, I usually go every Wednesday Night, that's when they have the "Roller Disco", and yes, once in a while we'll dress up like it's 1978 for it

What ever you do STAY OUT of Skate 22!! It was good back in the 80's but its gone down. That really should be closed for good or relocated to another town. I can't say they play 80's or 90's music when me and my friends tried to get in there in the 90's we were told by the person behind the ticket counter they were "Closed".

Thats about as dangerous as taking a trip to the middle of Camden wearing nothing but gold and diamonds while driving a brand new BMW. Only one good thing about that strip mall

I'd imagine this would be a hard find. I feel like there is a lot less open skate sessions nowadays then when I was younger, and it doesn't seem to be as much of a destination as it used to be. I think the rinks would rather rent the ice for hockey/figure skating events, or am I delusional.

Try Kendall Park. Not sure if they have specific days/nights for certain music, but I've been there and it was a lot of fun. Granted, I've gone on a Saturday afternoon simply because I have kids and don't want them around the older ones at night, but the place was nice.

I have to disagree, codey arena (formerly south mountain arena) and mennen arena have increased public sessions. There is now at least one public session a day in both rinks. Also there is so much more ice time available now with the increased amount of ice rinks that popped up within the last 10-15 years. When I was growing up codey, clary anderson and mennen were pretty much the only indoor rinks around me. now I got so many other choices between Floyd hall, twin oaks, Union sports arena, and prudential center. I really appreciate the choices now that I'm trying to teach my 3yr old how to skate and play hockey, less driving is a big plus.

I think the op is referring to roller rinks opposed to ice, generally a different vibe and clientele all together.

WOW Union sports arena!! The old Sports Park USA I remember those days, anyway does anyone know if the Florham Park Rink is still open? I pass it on the way home from work but I never actually see it open or not. That might be a good place to check out for those here who were looking to go skating.
