I guess the head of the NJEA is going to have to stay "afterschool" now, for detention!

However, the slow & steady progress of Newark will come to a halt. Mayor Booker's valiant efforts will be for naught. Jersey City's meteoric rise will end. Environmental clean up will get less money.
Suburbanites want their quality education, but don't want to pay for it.
Christie will cut social programs to placate his suburban base but ignore the real money draining issue in NJ.
After all, people love to blame others (those dirty, poor black people in Newark) for the state of things & not have to actually sacrifice anything of their own.
Good job white people with misplaced anger, you have just elected someone who will make you feel better about yourselves.

Jersey City's rise was due to a Republican Brett Schundler and business working together. The state contributed nothing.

What's with the wacky racism at the end?

NJ's problems are grave and will not be solved anytime soon. However, tonight we took a step in the right direction.

Congrats and best of luck to our new governor!

I can only imagine your outrage if someone were to dare say "well done black people" about anything......

You must be kidding. Besides Newark, Jersey City, Trenton, Camden, Elizabeth, Paterson, Hackensack, Irvington, Atlantic City and East Orange the rest of the state is all suburbs with the exception of Cape May county. Out of 8.8 million people; about 7 million are suburbanites. Separating the two is pointless. Gentrification in Jersey City will continue btw...

It was funny, being bombarded with all of the ads on TV for this governor's race and not even living in NJ.

It seemed like the race was all about "taxes" and property taxes in particular.

What does a state governor have to do with local property taxes? If you want lower property taxes wouldn't you vote out your mayor and council?

I voted for Corslime, even though I am not a big fan of his. I am moving in six months, so I really don't care either way, and I doubt Christi can do much better.

Want real change? Wait until Jersey resident Lou Dobbs finally comes around and runs for governor as an independent. He is the only independent who could win, and an independent governor is exactly what Jersey needs.

It has to do with the amount of state income taxes that are turned back to the municipalities. More money tuned back the lower the property tax.
