It's one of the better blocks in that area.
Who will be living there, is it just you and your wife, or do you have kids as well ? If you want the convenience of the city, that location gives you some affordability without putting you into a spot that's too sketchy. If you have kids, you might prefer to move to a suburb instead.
You'd be walking (or perhaps hiking) distance from the "little india" shops on Newark avenue near JFK.
