so today I was talking to a person on the phone at work. the guy was cursing at me, kept calling me "ni__a" and was a generally unfriendly person to speak with. one interesting thing he did was that he asked if I was black or white. I guess my gangsta-ness was detected by him. I thought it was funny that it wasn't obvious that im not black.
I think it has more to do with the fact that all the other members of my staff he talked to are black, so he probably figured that might make me black.
another thing I noticed today. I went to look at some office space in Spanish harlem. so the area is mostly Hispanic and most people were at least a nice tan color. so I am looking at the space and the owner stops by and of course he is an old jewish guy. it seems like no matter where you are in nyc, if you meet the owner of the building he is an old jewish guy.
