These past few years the post office has gone down hill. We had maybe 1" of snow today in Monmouth County and I knew a package was being delivered today from the USPS tracking. Our mail usually arrives around 4pm. I finally called the local post office at 6pm and they told me no deliveries were made in the area due to snow conditions!

The U.S postal service has been hit hard by budget cuts. If not for Ebay they would have been out of business a long time ago. Being that Ebay will take a huge hit in the next 2 or 3 years I would not be surprised to see they USPS go bye bye.
seriously- no offense to mailpeople, all the mail workers I've met have been very nice hard working people - but I think I have gotten 3 letters in the last year- the rest is mass marketing, junk mail, credit card offers, and thousands of offers from comcast to switch back from FIOS on little 5x8 cards. If the mail doesn't come, I think I could care less.

Considering yesterday was a holiday I found it annoying since I paid for a Priority One package to be delivered today.
I actually think the post office does a great job for the most part. I mailed my mother in Philly some DVD's at 1pm on a Monday and she had them by Tuesday, IMO it's pretty amazing.
Do you want to risk the life of a driver so you can get your magazines?
This is not the issue. I doubt any employer would be ok with staying home from work for 1" of snow. When I say 1" that was 1" on the exiting snow, there was zero accumulation on the roads or sidewalks. What makes me curious is why other towns and areas in NJ got their mail, there seems to be no standard set on how the post office decides if the mail is to be delivered.
