We are in process of buying lighting for our new house which is being constructed. Can anyone recommend any good stores in NJ/NY that have reasonable prices for good products? Here are some of the stores we are thinking of going to. Any reviews/comment on these?
Also, do you think it’s worth a trip to Canal Street in NY for lighting? My parents bought stuff for their house from Canal Street in 1992, and rave about the prices. I am not sure if it’s worth the trip to go there and if the quality/prices are even good. Appreciate you advice, thanks.
Canal street used to be a place to buy good quality American made lighting fixtures for great prices. Many lighting manufacturers used to be located right in NJ but many have closed or sent their work to China and that is what you get at HD and Lowes.
Capital still has good quality fixtures but they also sell the Chinese imported junk. In lighting fixtures it is just like anything you buy.,You get what you pay for.
Where are you located? Premier Electrical in Garwood supplies to contractors but they will also sell to individuals (my electrician guided me there) . They have a small showroom but also have tons of catalogs that you can look through. Their prices were better than I could find online or in any other local stores and their sales staff are very knowledgeable.
