Yup, the Ironbound is pretty nice, and fairly safe for a city neighborhood. In terms of housing stock/architecture, it's not "beautiful" like the nice neighborhoods in Jersey City and Hoboken are, but it's safe enough compared with the rest of Newark.

If you're looking to relocate from Texas, you should look into Jersey City and Hoboken. Weren't you posting on the NYC board about whether or not you'd be able to meet women here? If you are single, I wouldn't recommend Newark. There is much, much more going on socially in Hoboken and Jersey City. I specifically recommend Hoboken if you enjoy the preppyish, age 21-25 scene.

You should re phrase that to "Hoboken and DOWNTOWN Jersey City are expensive". Alot of neighborhoods in JC have house and rental prices similar to those in Newark. That being said, Tommyc why would you say that Newark dosnt have night life or that its not good for singles? Ironbound is filled wih nightlife spots. All 3 cities mentioned have nightlife just different scenes. I'd say JC is the most low key which is a good thing.

Tommy loves to throw Newark under the bus.
It's his NYC suck up reflex.

Ironbound is okay. University Heights isn't too bad either.

??? I RARELY, if ever, throw Newark under the bus.

You're confusing me with the rest of this board.
