Its raining here in Albuquerque and the rain smells fantastic. I have all the windows open as the cool fresh air coming in is erotic to me and has a smell thats unique only in the Southwestern desert region. Its drop the temp from the mid 90's to 76 right now according to wetherbug....

I COULD NOT AGREE MORE HARRY!!! After a long, long very hot, dry stretch here in June and early July, I have to say that I was just loving the downpour here a little while ago (my lawn was too). Even if I move out of the desert to Milwaukee again, I will never, ever forget the smell of rain in the desert...it is one of the more unique, refreshing, nice smells I have come across in nature.

Even more pleasant is the smell in the Sandias after a cool, refreshing rain.

But yeah, I am loving the cool weather the rains brought. It has been too long since I have seen the 70s at anytime here when it wasn't 5am!!!

I am sure the folks in Phoenix would kill for this right now...see their temps today?? Yeesh.

Just gotta add my 2 cent's worth about the rain in Alb. I've been here 3 weeks from Cincinnati. Don't miss the humidity at all, loving the blue skies & the "dry heat" but this rain today was sooooo refreshing...Anybody know the play "The Rainmaker" & the musical of it "110 in the Shade?" Sorry, as a theater person, I tend to reference musicals, opera, plays, ad nauseum...Anyway, couldn't agree more - the rain smells wonderful....Still a dark sky in the West, hope there's more in store.....

You are bringing back vivid memories of my trip to ABQ less than a month ago, and yes, I agree. I enjoyed the scent after the rain, and the breezes in general, and the lack of humidity.

(It occurs to me that one reason I get a little tongue-tied when someone asks me what I did and what I saw is not just that I didn't do that many big things (including some I'd hoped to get to), but also that what made the biggest impression was often the little things, or things not so little (like the Sandias) being there as part of the background.)

With all the moisture and rain here in ABQ right now wetherbug reports 29 % humidity.I totally relate to the last posters about humidity as i lived in Florida for 5 years and the humidity would be in the 90% range of sweltering heat and mosquitos everywhere. I would be covered in sweat all over my arms and hair etc...right now if i was back in Jacksonville and yet i sit here typing and i'm dry with just a fan running so its very nice here.
