My wife and I are in the need of a change. I need to work(construction) we have a 13 year old that needs a good school. What would be a good area to look into. My wife is disabled and has a social security income, but I would need to try to pickup work doing construction or landscaping. Any ideas for us?
There are some good areas in Albuquerque to live with pretty cheap rents. If you want to live in Clovis or some place in Eastern NM even cheaper.
From what I can tell, there's a lot of building going on but no one seems to be hiring. I'd like to know why that is myself. There's a big project by the Lobo's stadium. Those buildings aren't building themselves.

Las Cruces has seen a resurgence of new home construction in the past couple of months and there are other large construction projects around the area. It's also a vibrant community that is growing fast in spite of the housing downturn. Living costs are reasonable by any standard.
While this is the New Mexico forum, anyone needing construction jobs in the region should not overlook El Paso - but be prepared for lots of competition for day labor type jobs.
Try looking into Artesia. New Housing being developed and a great place to raise children with a excellent school that has great scholarship oppertunities for good students. Many get full ride scolarships that is funded from local business. Check in with the Artesia Chamber of Commerce.
Moved here to NM 3 years ago from Washington state. Sorry, can't recommend it--quite to the contrary. If you do move here, be sure to rent first. I call this state "The Land of Entrapment"!
Why do you call it the land of entrapment. We are planning on moving there from Washington state very soon.
She's not happy here. Some people just don't belong in some places. Sounds like NM is not for her. Read all posts, not just hers.
