And that's great (the ACLU is finally pursuing something worthwhile!) but WE the legal voters/residents of this state, we who reside here, need to start making calls to our so-called leaders and demand answers. We can't just sit back and let the ACLU handle it, remember the old saying, "If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself."

Wow.. 37 and maybe a few more are illegally voting.

That's enough to.. do nothing.

But let's use this as a cover story to get all riled up so we can turn away thousands of legitimate voters by hassling them at the polls, requiring all sorts of documentation.

All the while, let's do absolutely nothing with the ones we did catch voting, including going to their listed residence (if they were dumb enough to vote they're probably dumb enough to be found) and booting them out of the country.

Unfortunately we've heard this before and no proof has ever been offered. I hope that the investigation is open and transparent and not just a political witch-hunt to validate the Governor's agenda.

I've dug up a little bit here, and the statement was that 37 voters voted who did not have social security numbers.

Believe it or don't, there are actually Americans who don't have social security numbers (they're quite old by now). When social security was instituted, some people took it upon themselves to opt out of the program.

So the majority of these, if not all, could be Americans in this boat (who used other documents, like a passport, to get their voter registration).

Amazing how easy it is for people (even yours truly) to snap to judgement and get out the torches and pitchforks at the drop of a hat.

Wow, 37 people (out of more than a million voters) may have voted illegally.

I wonder how many misinformed, uneducated, demented, and just plain stupid people voted, perfectly legally? I think those are a much bigger threat to democracy.

Actually, that's the very essence of democracy. At least it will be until we can all agree on objective criteria that make voters stupid or not.

If only the smart people voted, voting wouldn't be necessary, would it?

Still, I bet you'd get a pretty high turnout of voters in favor of disenfranchising people who vote against their causes if it ever came up.

Democracy depends on an educated and informed electorate (in Jefferson's vision). The problem is that large corporations control most of the educating and informing.
