After 30 plus years away I am retiring and moving to the Alubuquerque/Rio Rancho area. I have a 90 year old mother who needs a nursing home and my wife and I would like to live in a gated community. We have gone to a real estate agent who, as you might expect, has told us that Abq - RR is overflowing with just we want. I am sure that there people who not selling, and could give an objective assessment of nursing homes and gated communities in the central NM region.

The nursing home we are looking for should be clean and comfortable. The gated community should allow ownership of an Airedale terrier. Aside from those restriction/requirements I am all ears.

Default RR for Seniors

This is not my usual genre...but I too have parents headed to Assisted Livings (if I can ever get them out of their house!) or a Nursing Home, (if I can't unfortunately).

This site will help you out. Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce - City Information (http://www.rrchamber.org/city.htm - broken link)

RR is a good place to retire. It is booming, but still one of NM's safest communities. I have a friend who came to visit from Cincinnati, fell in love with NM, and is retiring in RR next year!

Good luck!

please watch out for the nursing homes in rio rancho they are awful. Albuquerque is not much better. Please try assisted living or private home if you can.

Thanks for the lead. I found pretty much what I was looking for with regard to homes for the 90 year old.
