Now located in New Mexico.. Sunland Park to be exact. I drove by there yesterday, and it looks like a carni set up. Its really sad looking too. The El Bandito needs more show added to it.. right now its just this simple looking red and white frame coaster. And everything looks downscaled. Also not much shade to be had there, and in the Desert southwest heat you need that. Would be cool if they would build a small old west town like another theme park in the area once had, or something southwest to put shops and attraction in. Also wonder if pat will get that new coaster he wants so badly now. If they can they also need to stick a large water feature out there something to go along with the log ride, maybe try to talk Wet and wild to build on site with them or do another water park in Western Playland.

I hope they can get it together over there, because right now its looking rather sad.

Default Same "Playland," Different "Location?"

Is the "Western Playland" in Sunland Park, the same amusement park that used to be next to Ascarate Lake in South El Paso? I had some good times there years ago.

Default future plans?

do you know if they are planning to build it grander than it was at their old location? and do you know the reason for the move?

The reason is the El Paso City council didn't want Western Playland any longer.. and did everything in their power to run him off. Why? So they could develop the land into something else and make money off it. Plain and simple truth.

I am sure within time he may.. but since the new park really sucks ( not only my opinion but the majority's here ) I don't know if he will make the capital needed to do that or not. And unless he makes some major changes to his current NEW park, I don't think he will last very long. I have seen Road side carnivals that are more impressive and inviting than what the new Western Playland looks like now.
