Shouldn't encounter any problems. Perhaps a short interval of highway widening.

There is a lot of 2-lane, some of "improved" to wider than normal until you reach Tularosa. From there to Las Cruces US-70 is 4-lane. Speed limit on 2-lane section varies from 55 to 65 and increases to 75 for a short distance on US-70.

Between Carrizozo and Tularosa the road is very good. Fifteen miles of construction from maybe 10 miles north of Carrizozo halfway up to Corona. Pavement is a bit rougher between there and Corona. Between Santa Rosa and Corona I don't remember anything that would cause you problems - aside from other drivers, but you get that anywhere Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to see people doing 75 mph on this road.

It just occurred to me that the OP may have been concerned about "weather" conditions rather than other road conditions. But then no one can predict the weather and that highway will be no different than any other in the area when wet, icy or high winds - ie; extra caution needed.

I drove Tularosa - El Paso last week and back. The road was fine, safe- a bit boring. it should continue to be fine, safe and a bit boring for the next month as well.

Want me to predict the weather too? Daytime highs in the mid to upper 50's and 60's . Lows in the high 30's. No rain with clear and sunny skies ( during the day) .

Anything else? LOL
