I don't mean expensive custom made homes. Years ago I knew a woman who had a modest home in central (maybe a few miles east off of 10th) Alamo who said a few homes in residential areas were made of all Adobe. My question is how rare are they and are they a little more costly than regular homes. Maybe a realtor would know. I may be retiring to the area.

I think the real estate descriptions of houses on this website describe the construction type and materials. Check out the thread below.

There are Adobe homes. Nice ones are rare and expensive. You might read through this thread, which includes my opinions on Adobe homes: Adobe Homes

I looked on zillow.com for adobe homes in the Alamogordo area.

Homes For Sale & Real Estate - Alamogordo area - Zillow

About 830 homes listed. When I included adobe in the search I got 15 results in the $77,000 to $893,000 price range:

Adobe - Alamogordo area - Zillow

Thanks. I didn't know you could search by construction material.

I did not say that. You can search by certain parameters, but there is no guarantee of what will actually pop up...

I would say you're absolutely right about newer adobe homes built since the debut of modern building codes. However, there are quite a few older (say pre-WWII) homes in New Mexico that used adobe as a building material that are not necessarily any more expensive than a regular home. For instance, many of the homes built in Albuquerque's Valley areas or older subdivisions are adobe and that rarely figures into the asking price.

But the Original Poster was asking about "Older adobe homes in Alamogordo".... not the "Albuquerque's Valley areas".
