Does anyone know whether gamefarming has been tried in NM - anything from ostriches to oryx, wildebeest etc.? Maybe somebody could shed some light on the legal aspects? Thanks. Have a nice weekend

I've seen a lot of failed ostrich ranches no doubt they're legal. Oryx run wild on White Sand Missile Range, and a lot of them have gone out of the boundaries. Not sure if you can raise them, I'd call the state Livestock Bureau they'll know for sure about other exotics too.

I have seen people be successful with raising game birds. Quail, chucker and pheasant for uhhmmm, canned hunts? They still taste good I guess, but it's awful pricey meat.

Thanks, TKO, will contact them! Wouldn't want it for canned hunting though, seems pretty much unfair I think. Lower NM would be good country for ostrich, tsesebe etc. and their meat is in fact rather healthy (plus, if you're below he carrying capacity of the land you won't need medication, hormones etc.).
