Thanks for the reminder (Native Seeds). I had forgotten about them.

The hispanics in NM are an extremely pleasant, beautiful, and cultured people. I was surprised at how welcome I felt. Everyone was so normal. Here in NoVA our "Hispanics" are rude, loud, and unfettered transplants who don't make much attempt at assimilation.

Yup, here in New Mexico it's mostly the gringos who are rude, loud transplants who don't assimilate. Perspective is a funny thing.

My sister, like myself, was born in El Paso and lived there into her 20s. The rest of her life has been spent living on Cape Cod, Mass. where, over time, she has developed the demeanor I find so typical of many "down easterners."

She was in Ruidoso recently and met a local Hispanic family who she spent some time visiting with. Afterward, she repeatedly kept saying: "They are the NICEST people!"

It irritated me because her inference seemed to be that she was surprised that anyone Hispanic could be so nice to her. I finally spoke up and told her they aren't any nicer than the average persons one meets in this region of the country.

But you have to understand the way that they act in our area... it's ignorant to assume that just because someone belongs to one particular group they all must be the same, but the human mind seems to like to lump people into categories.

I was born/raised in PA, lived in El Paso for three years (during which I visited Las Cruces several times) and visit Oklahoma City regularly due to family. I'm back living in PA now.
IMO, people no matter what their race, ethnicity, nationality etc. usually take on the dispostion of the particular area/city where they live. Generally speaking, the Hispanics living in the Northeast are less friendly then Hispanics living in TX or NM. However, the same pattern holds true for Whites and African Americans as well. It can be really hard to understand just how different "normal behavior" is in different parts of the country, unless you spend some real time (not just a few days) in various areas of the country.

I'm getting a racist vibe from this post, it seems like you're implying that the Hispanics in New Mexico you're referring to are better because they're of European descent rather than the mestizo/indigenous descended ones you'd see in NoVa. But I find it to be nonsense anyway that the Latinos in the East Coast aren't friendly, I live around many, and they're great people.

No, it's the opposite. The Native ones are better and the Europeans are trashy. It's not racist. I can't help what the truth is.

You're confusing your opinion (which to be honest most people probably don't care about) with truth.
