Ummm....I think you're probably referring to this location:
I was one of the young people who were privileged to stay at the summer camp in its early years of operation when that property was purchased by
Vernus Carey - aka: Mr. YMCA of El Paso.
I knew the people who bought the property in 1980. He passed away in 2011 and had been both a school principal and preacher in El Paso.
Getting back on theme... There is a nice grove of Mapels easily accessible from Burro St. in "downtown" Cloudcroft. One just has to follow Osha Trail Rd. to the NW of town about a mile or so. Best to go in the fall after the first freeze.
