Does anyone know if winter storms tend to move in to the north part of the state as early as Halloween? I'm looking at flying out of Denver for a trip and wondering what the chances are of a freak early storm. I'm usually going from ABQ to Denver later in the winter, so I know to watch weather then. But last week of Oct/first week of Nov is not a timeframe I'm familiar with

It can certainly happen and seems highly likely this year if the recent trend continues. But here is a good web page showing "earliest" and "average first" snowfalls for many towns in NM. While the town of Raton is shown, there is nothing specific for Raton Pass, which can be even worse weather due to the higher altitude and other factors. Trinidad has an annual snowfall of 4 inches in Oct and 8 inches in Nov.

Cool! The Average First Snowfall column will be very handy! This next trip was Frontier, which would not be refundable - usually I fly SW in the winter in case weather forces me to cancel.

Thanks!
