If you've not seen this video, it's a nice presentation on the small Catholic church in Golden that was all but abandoned at one point. And it's gone through a major renovation, apparently all credit going to one family still living in the area. It's always been one of my favorite photogenic attractions on the Turquoise Trail.

There is a video included with this article in today's news that is the focus of my interest.

Painting of Jesus vanishes from Golden church | New Mexico News - KOAT Home

When I first encountered this church some years ago, it was painted stark white on the outside.

And as it looks now.

That's awesome, and I have great respect for the guy tending to it. There's plenty of scumbags to go around that would steal a piece of artwork, especially that of sacred value to its patrons. I myself am very much an atheist, but I really enjoy seeing the history and work put in to some of these historical locations!

Love the work they did. I stopped by the day they were redoing the floor. Thanks for the pictures.

This is one of several paintings I created using the church as my reference model back when it was whitewashed. It stood out more starkly from the surrounding landscape when it was all white.
