I am partial to the Blackjack Ketchum story, in particular his last attempted robbery of the train and the laws which were made up specifically for him. His attorneys were absolute genious's from what I am told. In modern times he wouldnt have served much time at all. I hope to have court transcripts and stuff in the coming weeks on my website too.

Pat Garrett getting picked off while taking a leak off his horseback, over an argument about how his property was being used. Also, the actual site of where Garrett was killed is not on U.S. 70, at the monument, as some people think. It is actually kept under wraps by Garrett's extended family, but there is a memorial at the location.

I remember seeing the picture of when he was hanged and his head decapitated.

J. Robert Oppenheimer, who had directed the project, said: "We waited until the blast had passed, walked out of the shelter and then it was extremely solemn. We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried. Most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita: Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him he takes on his multi-armed form and says, 'Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.' I suppose we all thought that, one way or another."
(From Richard Rhodes, "The Making of the Atomic Bomb")

Not a secret. You can find the directions on the web. Unfortunately a residential development is going in that area. However, the developer has promised to preserve the spot.

Unhappy Charles Bent

In a major breakdown of the harmonious relationship among the three cultures, Charles Bent, first territorial governor of New Mexico and in-law of Kit Carson, is scalped alive in front of his wife in Taos.

His home is still standing and part of it is a museum. But save your money for the Kit Carson museum.
