Hello everybody, I live in Texas and i am interested in going oryx hunting in the White Sands and entering the lottery for those tags.Do yall know how far the shots are?Also, would a .30-06 be okay?Thanks yall

C2: Just arrived in Alamo, so no in-depth knowledge on the oryx. Saw a lot of tracks and sign when hiking to Lake Lucero last weekend with the White Sands National Monument park personnel. I'll say this: my brother and I each each killed an oryx (called gemsbok) in Namibia in 2007, and you want a premium bullet placed in the boiler room to get this done. I would consider a 200-grain Nosler Partition, or a 180-grain Barnes Triple Shock for this work. Keep shooting until the oryx is down. Widely acknowledged in Africa as the very best antelope for the table behind eland. No one buys beef if they can harvest oryx.
