New Mexico State Police Officer Darian Jarrott initiated a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet pickup on Interstate 10 eastbound, near mile marker 102 east of Deming, New Mexico. During the traffic stop, Officer Jarrott asked the driver, identified as Omar Felix Cueva, 39, of Deming to exit the vehicle. Cueva exited the driver’s side holding an AR-15-style rifle and fired at least one shot at Officer Jarrott as he was walking to the rear of the vehicle. Officer Jarrott ducked and fell onto his back as Cueva ran around the back of the pickup toward Officer Jarrott. Cueva fired several more rounds at Officer Jarrott who was struck by gunfire and killed.
Footage of Omar Cueva shooting New Mexico State Officer Darian Jarrot has been broadcast all over the country. At first glance, it’s not entirely clear to the viewer what is happening behind the camera, that Officer Jarrot was actually working with Homeland Security on Cuevo’s case. Attorney Sam Bergman says the federal government did not tell Officer Jarrot about the dangers posed by Cueva and set him up to die. HSI is not commenting.

So, the Mexican cartels are operating in the US now. Isn't that just ducky. Deming is near the border, so it's probably a checkpoint for border enforcement and various LE entities. Did they catch the perp?
This happened 2 months ago? Never heard a word about it before this minute. Truly horrific. The cop was being so polite and mild mannered in this stop and then he was gunned down in cold blood. Where was the media outrage? Oh yeah, there was none. Just a cop killed in the line of duty.

He was killed in Las Cruces after they chased him there.
I remember seeing some stuff about this at the time. My wife watched news of it on an ABQ station.
